Nothing beats a Kiwi summer Christmas. 30 degrees, BBQ on the deck, family everywhere.

It's always a bit surreal coming back to NZ after months in Canada. Everything is so green, the air smells different, and everyone says "sweet as" and "yeah nah."

The Highlights

- **Christmas Day:** BBQ at Mum & Dad's. Classic Kiwi spread — pavlova, potato salad, lamb.

- **Boxing Day:** Lake Wakatipu swim and a hike up Queenstown Hill.

- **New Year's:** Watched fireworks over the lake with the whole crew.

The mountains here are different from BC — more rugged, less trees, that distinctive tussock landscape. Both beautiful in their own way.

Miss the whānau every time I leave. That's the hard part about living overseas.
